About the GGHNA

For nearly 50 years, the Golden Gate Heights Neighborhood Association (GGHNA) has worked to preserve and enhance the quality of life in our neighborhood.  While our primary interest encompasses the area bounded by Kirkham Street to the north, Ninth Avenue to the east, Santiago Street to the south and Nineteenth Avenue to the west, our concerns extend to adjoining areas as well.

In addition to routine matters such as parking and traffic, development, and maintenance of parks and other public property, GGHNA has addressed numerous issues in recent years, including:

  • Concerns over AT&T’s plans to place hundreds of utility boxes on public sidewalks throughout the city in terms of impeding pedestrian access, graffiti, and general aesthetics;
  • The balance between preserving native plant and animal habitat and the realities of urban life in the 21st Century;
  • The impact of proposed Sunday parking meter enforcement in nearby commercial areas;
  • Improvements to Golden Gate Heights Park, including the play area, tennis courts, and pathways
  • Support for the ongoing maintenance of the Moraga Street Tiled Steps and for the development of the Hidden Garden Tiled Steps (16th Avenue between Kirkham and Lawton);
  • Support for Herbert Hoover Middle School’s extracurricular activities.

The strength of our voice is a reflection of the number of households we represent.  Dues are $10 per household for the calendar year.  Join today!
